Every conscientious designer today will endeavor to create a building that is energy efficient and sensitive to the environment. The USGBC [United States Green Building Council] is a front-runner in developing guidelines for the design of buildings that are energy efficient and utilize materials that are sensitive to the preservation of the environment and use natural sources of energy to provide for the comfort of the occupants of the building.
The USGBC developed the LEED [Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design] program to establish design criteria and certification standards for “green buildings.” Somerville's LEED certified architects, engineers, and construction managers will work with you to incorporate all appropriate sustainable design features into your projects.
Our team recognizes the importance of incorporating energy savings into our designs and the importance of protecting the environment. However, it is also our responsibility to completely evaluate the feasibility, construction costs, life cycle cost and return on investment when incorporating certain energy saving standards in the design. This evaluation allows our clients to make an informed business decision of which sustainable design criteria to incorporate into their design.
Somerville, what matters to you, matters to us. Design Matters.
