** Bellin Health - Cancer Care Center

This state-of-the-art cancer center eliminates the need for area patients to travel to university hospitals or larger cities in order to receive high-quality cancer care in one facility. This facility will serve as THE Cancer Care Center for northeast Wisconsin. Bellin Health Systems wanted the design of the facility to be forward-looking while at the same time blending in with the other facilities on site. This was achieved through use of similar materials while more modern gestures in massing and form provide for a signature building. The facility interior layout includes central reception and waiting areas for all services and allows for seamless crossdisciplinary flow. The use of indirect natural light, exterior and interior gardens and water features heightens the connection between the built and natural environment while creating a truly calming and healing atmosphere. This patient-focused design was also achieved through the use of simple way-finding, efficient patient-staff adjacencies,and special ceiling treatments to deinstitutionalize the space.
