FVTC Waupaca Regional Center
Creativity in design and craftsmanship were demonstrated throughout this project. The desire of the owner to have this facility be a testament to the environmentally progressive commitment of the college drove much of the design.
The facility has many green features including a solar thermal system to provide domestic hot water and radiant in-floor heating, the State’s 4th largest photovoltaic system, an energy kiosk that monitors and provides information on the facilities systems, including providing online live information through the college’s website. Many of the products and systems used were not only new to the Technical College, but cutting edge for sustainable building. Somerville Architects and Ellis Stone Construction met the challenge of new materials, products, construction methods and a very tight timeframe as a unified team. The end result is a facility that meets the needs of the college, now and into the future. |
