Well-designed educational environments do more than facilitate learning. They enhance it. They inspire it. They can even serve as tangible examples of sustainable, forward-thinking concepts in practice. With more than 1,200 projects for over 100 school districts, universities and technical colleges to our credit, Somerville boasts a portfolio of educational design experience few firms can match. And we do it well. Sure, in part it’s because, in that time, we have acquired an extensive knowledge of how to design facilities that improve the learning experience. But more importantly, we’ve learned the value of speaking directly with key staff who will actually use the space, understanding their needs and challenges, and then responding with a design to help them do their jobs better. It’s something experience has taught us and, as they say, experience is the best teacher. And for over 70 years, we’ve been really good students.
